Brand new bedding for the Smile Centre
Tuesday 21st April 2015
After a fantastic donation of brand new bedding from Co-op funeral care, local charity Smile Support & Care are now getting closer to being able to open the new Smile respite care centre in Waterlooville.
Stuart Baldwin Chief Executive for Smile was presented with bedding for the two family apartments at the centre by staff from Co-op Funeral care. “This donation means we are well on our way to having the family apartments fully equipped ready for numerous local families who will use our new centre once it opens shortly, and we thank the Co-op for their support.”
Smile Support & Care provides support to children and young adults with disabilities across Hampshire and West Sussex. The care provided varies widely from family to family, from those with children who have the milder forms of autism to those with chronic life-limiting conditions such as cystic fibrosis. The new Smile Centre will provide a unique hotel-style setting for disabled youngsters who will be able to enjoy a short break. The Centre features eight en-suite rooms, two family apartments, as well as a café area, gardens, therapy room and sensory room.
Smile is appealing to local people to fundraise towards the running costs once the new Centre opens soon. Community fundraiser, Jess Zubaidi, said: “There are lots of other ways to support Smile, do visit our website or contact us for more details.”
