The Smile Centre
It is often impossible for disabled children and young adults to enjoy a break away.
We want to make the impossible, possible - giving individuals in the region the unique opportunity to get away and relax in a purpose-built facility, adapted to suit their needs.
We launched an appeal in 2011 to build a short-break centre in Waterlooville, Hampshire, offering breaks for disabled children and young adults, as well as providing them and their families with a place to enjoy a holiday together. Most people tend to take holidays for granted, but when there is a child in the family requiring specialist care and attention, a holiday is not easily arranged and can be unaffordable. To achieve our goal for a purpose-built facility, we needed to raise £4 million.
We are thrilled to announce that our appeal was hugely successful and the new Smile Centre was officially opened on 29th January 2016 by HRH Prince Michael of Kent. We will soon be welcoming our first visitors to stay for a short break at the centre. We would like to offer our sincere thanks to the many donors and supporters who have contributed to making this dream a reality. We do however still need as much help from our supporters as possible to help raise funds to support the Centre's vital work. Please see our fundraising page for further details:
